Speakeasy's terms and conditions 

Valid for all private lessons and group courses

1. Scope of application

1.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all language courses offered by Hirtreiter Speakeasy – Einfach Deutsch Lernen (hereinafter referred to as Speakeasy), whether conducted in person at the school premises or online.

1.2 By submitting a registration form, the student (or their legal guardian) agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

2. Registration and Enrollment

2.1 Submitting a completed registration form (online or paper), in which a specific course has been selected, constitutes a binding agreement between the student (or their legal guardian) and Speakeasy.

2.2 Submitting a registration form in which an alternative course or time is requested does not constitute a binding agreement and is subject to review by Speakeasy.

2.3 All registrations will be confirmed by email. Speakeasy reserves the right to decline a registration without providing a reason.

 

3. Course Delivery

3.1 Classes are conducted in-person at the school premises or online via approved platforms.

3.2 The chosen course format (in-person or online) must be selected at the time of registration and may only be changed with prior written approval.

3.3 The location for in-person courses will be determined at the time of registration and may only be changed with prior written approval.

3.4 Speakeasy reserves the right to modify the delivery method of a course in the case of force majeure (e.g., public health concerns, technical disruptions).

 

4. Private lessons

Private lessons for adults, kids and teens are one-on-one lessons with the length of one lesson corresponding to 60 minutes. The actual length of one class can be agreed upon on an individual basis (usually 60, 75 or 90 minutes).

 

5. Fees and Payment

5.1 All course fees must be paid in full prior to the start of the course unless otherwise agreed in writing. The invoiced amount is due within 10 days from the invoice date.

5.2 Fees are non-refundable except under the circumstances outlined in section 8 (Cancellations & Refunds).

5.3 Late payments may result in suspension from the course until payment is received.

 

6. Attendance and Conduct

6.1 Regular attendance and punctuality are expected from all students.

6.2 Students must maintain respectful and appropriate behavior during both in-person and online classes.

6.3 The school reserves the right to remove any student from the course for misconduct or disruptive behavior without refund.

6.4 The minimum attendance for all group lessons is 2 students. If this requirement is not met for a particular lesson, the lesson will be postponed until the following week.

 

7. Course Materials and Copyright

7.1 Course materials provided by Speakeasy are for personal use only and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.

7.2 Unauthorized recording or sharing of class sessions is strictly prohibited.

7.3 Digital versions of books will be used for online courses and printed versions for in-person courses. Students will also receive access to a digital learning platform.

7.4 Speakeasy provides its students with copies, scans or reading materials and collocates individually tailored exercises and homework for each student.

7.5 Students who miss a lesson will be provided with that lesson's materials, any relevant information pertaining to the missed class as well as homework. This will be provided electronically.

 

8. Cancellations and Refunds

8.1 Cancellations must be submitted in writing at least 7 days before the course start date for a partial refund (subject to a processing fee).

8.2 No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 7 days before the course start date or after the course has begun.

8.3 If a course is canceled by Speakeasy, a full refund or alternative arrangement will be offered.

8.4 In case of emergency, illness, other appointments, workload or holidays, lessons must be canceled or switched to another date 24 hours (or earlier) ahead of the planned lesson, otherwise a cancellation fee applies.

 

9. Changes to Courses

9.1 Speakeasy reserves the right to make changes to course content, schedule, instructor, or location when necessary.

9.2 Students will be informed of any significant changes in advance.

 

10. Liability

10.1 Speakeasy is not liable for any personal property lost or damaged on the premises.

10.2 While reasonable precautions are taken, Speakeasy is not responsible for technical failures affecting online delivery.

10.3 Participation in classes is at the student's own risk.

 

11. Privacy

11.1 The Privacy Policy which has been published on Speakeasy’s website at the time of registration applies.

11.2 Student information will be used solely for the purposes of course administration and communication.

 

12. Governing Law

12.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Switzerland.

12.2 Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in 6345 Neuheim.
